It’s Friday and you know what that means? Christmas break! Not kidding, I’m going home and will be there for a week – haven’t done that in three years. So while my family takes in the fact that they’re going to have to put up with my craziness for seven full days, below are some of my favorite things from this week.
For those of you that I gchat with on a regular basis (a.k.a. every day), you know that I watch DailyGrace. What I’ve learned through this is that the YouTube community is incredibly incestuous and it’s perfectly normal to find your favorite vlogger on YDAD one week or MyHarto the next. It should then come as no surprise that these familiar faces decided to team up with RhettandLink for the very weird, catchy and just fun music video “Christmas Sweatz.” Seriously, you won’t be able to shake it from your memory.
Rewind YouTube Style 2012
Speaking of a close-knit Youtube community, the video sharing site created a recap video with this year’s top contributors set to the catchiest music of 2012: “Gangnam Style” and “Call Me Maybe.” You’re likely familiar with most of the channels and videos that they’re referencing but if you’re not, shame on you – go spend more time on the internet! (Said no parent, ever).
The 20 Biggest Brand Fails of 2012
Everyone loves to see big brands fail, which is why AdWeek gives us a recap of the best ones this year. Most are legitimate while others are just funny like AMC’s response to Oreo and the fact that the one page Amazon chose for its ad happened to be a spoiler. If anything, community managers need to learn to double check where they’re tweeting from. Once they get into that habit, the number of slip ups will hopefully decrease.
The Great Gatsby Trailer
The first trailer for this movie was posted earlier this year in anticipation of a release date over the holidays. Most likely scared by the competition (The Hobbit, Les Mis etc), Warner Bros decided to push the movie back to this summer, which is bound to make it a blockbuster hit. While I’m sad that I have to wait six more months to see it, this new trailer manages to appease my impatience just a little bit. Seriously, this movie’s going to be awesome.
2012 Vanity Fair Pictures
I know I’ve been posting a lot about 2012 recaps but I couldn’t resist sharing this last one. It’s the most striking pictures from Vanity Fair, commonly known for its in-depth profiles and investigative journalism as well as a vast collection of Annie Leibovitz photos. These don’t disappoint!
