We’ve all seen it. It sits in the pocket that your knees are pressed up against during a flight. It’s an airplane staple and, for some, a traditional pastime when 30,000 feet in the air: Skymall Magazine.
When on a recent business trip, I did something I’d never done before but that is always suggested: I took the magazine home with me and decided to highlight some of its more interesting gems. Not only that, it’s holiday season, which means everyone is looking for some last minute gift ideas so why not pick out the last few on your trip home?
1. Jeans Lounge Pants, $22.95 – Contrary to what you might think, these aren’t ripped jeans. These are sweat pants made to look like jeans. Because when you want to lounge around, it’s not enough to look like you made an effort and put on real clothes, you need to look like you made no effort at all.
2. Relaxing Magic Showerhead, $59.99 -You know, for every time you shower in the dark.
3. One of a kind Shirts, $69.99 – “These shirts are great for a night on the town, frat parties, bachelor parties, stag parties or any other time you want to stand out in a crowd.” Let’s be honest, these are just a desperate cry for help.
4. Passing the Bar Board Game, $119.99 – For all your lawyer friends! Because I’m sure their definition of a good time is brushing up on work knowledge and reliving those wonderful six months when they were studying for the bar exam. Better yet, bring your non-lawyer friends who have nothing to contribute. Clearly, there’s fun to be had for everyone.
I’m not going to lie, there are a few items in Skymall Magazine that I lust after but in the grand scheme of things, they’re not nearly as entertaining as the duds.
What is the most ridiculous thing that you’ve seen in Skymall? Does anyone else flip through this every time they board a plane?
